Anita Roddick
travelled amongst the destitute, the oppressed,
the exploited and the condemned, but she never lost hope or stamina because she knew that there was joy and possibility in creating new, imaginative ways to make things better. She had little patience for those who said they were too busy to be activists. “Then be a sittist! Sit at your computer and participate!” She knew that doing any small thing to improve a life, to right a wrong, brings joy to those who do, as well as to those who benefi t. That’s why she laughed all the way to changing the world. This booklet is a guide to Anita’s passions, those organisations and causes she admired and/or supported. We hope it will spark in you a bit of Anita’s fl ame, and that you will use it as a compass to help you make a change today. Now you’ve no excuse! Choose a cause or organisation that especially resonates with you, and visit its website, donate or volunteer – more than anything else, they all need money and people-power! New actions will be available each week at
over the coming months, years and decades.
Together we will carry forward Anita’s
passion and compassion
,
faith in humanity
, moral certitude, outrage and
indefatigable
energy.
So let’s dance, march, sing and laugh
all the way to
changing the world.
As Anita said,
“Do something. Do anything. Just do
something
.”
